DesBio Intestinal Restore provides multifaceted support for digestive health and intestinal integrity.

Intestinal Restore provides multifaceted support for digestive health and intestinal integrity. Intestinal Restore features Tegricel®, a source of serum antibodies and immunoglobulins, to support the healthy functioning of the gastrointestinal immune system. Glutamine is the preferred amino acid for regeneration of intestinal cells while mucilaginous herbs soothe inflamed and damaged tissues. Finally, digestive enzymes encourage healthy digestion and absorption of macronutrients.

L-Glutamine is an important fuel and nitrogen source for intestinal cells and plays a key role in maintaining integrity of the intestinal mucosa and gut barrier function.

TegricelTM is an immunoglobulin-rich extract of colostrum, the biological fluid produced by female mammals after giving birth. Colostrum provides immediate passive immune protection to a newborn. Tegricel was developed to provide key bioactive immune compounds including immunoglobulins (40% IgG), proline-rich peptides, insulin like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), transforming growth factor (TGF)-B2, sialic acid, and nucleotides. In laboratory settings, healing of damaged gastrointestinal epithelial cells was improved in the presence of Tegricel. It has also been shown to reduce the damage associated with NSAID ulceration in animal models. Patients treated with Tegricel also noticed a reduction in allergic symptoms and health complaints after consumption of Tegricel.

Digestive enzymes encourage the breakdown of macronutrients. In leaky gut patients, the breakdown of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins is impaired, leading the body to absorb only partially broken-down molecules. The immune system does not recognize these “irregular” compounds which further triggers the immune response. The digestive enzymes in Intestinal Restore help encourage healthy digestion and absorption.

Fennel seed is naturally carminative, making it beneficial for controlling one of the most embarrassing symptoms of intestinal discomfort: Gas. Fennel seed may help reduce gas and bloating by supporting digestion and reducing intestinal spasms.

Aloe vera has been recognized for its health-promoting properties for many years. Just as it can be used to heal a burn on the skin, when taken internally aloe vera can help to soothe damaged tissues of the gastrointestinal tract. In patients with inflammatory bowel disease, aloe vera was shown to help reduce inflammatory markers and provide a therapeutic effect.

Marshmallow root and slippery elm are two herbs that contain mucilage which forms a slippery substance when combined with water. In the esophagus and intestinal tract, these mucilaginous herbs can be very soothing.

Licorice root works by coating the digestive tract with mucus. It is especially effective in the upper GI tract, helping to relieve damage and pain caused by exposure to stomach acid. It may even combat stomach bloating, water retention, and constipation because of its mild laxative and diuretic effects. Licorice may also help to relieve the damage caused by excessive use of NSAIDs.
